Runa Forsikring was founded in 1989 as an offshoot of Lærerstandens Brandforsikring and serves members of selected trade organisations, Forbrugsforeningen and customers of Lån & Spar Bank. It is member-owned and, together with Lærerstandens Brandforsikring and Bauta Forsikring, forms the insurance community LB Forsikring A/S.

The company was ordered to prepare a multi-year plan for its internal audit function. Runa Forsikring is supervised by Finanstilsynet as part of LB Forsikring A/S.
