Direct payment

For hospitalization abroad, Europ Assistance can advance the hospitalization costs directly while the insured is deemed non-transportable by its medical team. For other medical expenses (doctor's fees, medication, dental emergencies), the insured pays upfront and is reimbursed on return upon presenting original invoices together with a certificate of non-coverage from Social Security/mutual insurance.

Geographic scope

Zone 1: France (metropolitan France & Monaco); Zone 2: Europe and Mediterranean countries; Zone 3: Worldwide (except excluded/sanctioned countries)

Cover applies only within the destination zone chosen at subscription. Excluded in all cases: Belarus, North Korea, Iran, the self-proclaimed Republics of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, Russia, Syria and Crimea, as well as countries under UN/EU/UK/US sanctions.

Unique selling points

  • Medical expense cover of up to €1,000,000 worldwide (and €160,000 in Europe/Mediterranean), well above typical market minimums.
  • A single annual contract covers an unlimited number of trips of up to 90 days each over 12 months, avoiding the need to buy a new policy for every trip.
  • 24/7 emergency assistance hotline reachable from France and abroad, with immediate coordination of medical repatriation.
  • Instant online subscription with an immediate downloadable insurance certificate available anytime from the personal account area.
  • Covid-19 illness during the trip is covered like any other illness, including medical costs and medical repatriation in case of hospitalization.
