Purchase while abroad
The policy cannot be issued once the journey has started. Cover applies only for the whole journey and a policy will not be issued if the insured has already begun their journey. The Irish Life Health Travel Insurance policy is linked to and provided in conjunction with a valid Irish Life Health Insurance policy; it cannot be purchased independently while abroad.This policy is available for purchase before departure and must be purchased prior to travel commencing. Unauthorized treatment
Any expenses incurred without prior agreement from Allianz Assistance are not covered under Section 10. The insurer will not accept liability for costs incurred for repatriation or treatment if the insured refuses to follow advice from the treating doctor and Allianz medical advisers. Extra transport and accommodation costs of a higher standard than those already used on the journey are excluded unless specifically agreed.If the Person Insured incurs medical costs without first contacting Chubb Assistance (except in a genuine emergency), the insurer may reject the claim or reduce the payment. Additional travel and hotel expenses not authorised in advance by Chubb Assistance are not covered. Any expenses incurred following the Person Insured's decision not to move hospital or return to Ireland after the date when Chubb Assistance recommends they do so are also excluded.This is not a private medical insurance policy. The policy only covers emergency medical and surgical treatment and not treatment that can reasonably be delayed until return to the Republic of Ireland. Pre existing conditions

Coverage duration limit
For this bundled policy, a trip booked to last longer than 31 days is not covered. Trips within the home country (Republic of Ireland) must be for at least 3 nights and have pre-booked transport or accommodation, or be more than 25 miles from home (unless involving a sea crossing). Winter sports cover applies for up to 31 days in total during the period of insurance when the additional premium has been paid.Single Trip policies cover one holiday abroad for a maximum of 30 consecutive days (per the IPID; the policy document Key Benefits table confirms the maximum duration of any one trip is 30 days). If the holiday is 7 nights, 8 days of cover is needed; 14 nights requires 15 days.
