ADB "Gjensidige" Latvia branch began operating in the Latvian market in 1994 as AS Parekss apdrošināšanas kompānija, later renamed after being acquired by Norway's Gjensidige Forsikring in 2006. It is a leading non-life insurer offering a full range of insurance products for private and corporate customers. On 2 January 2026, ERGO International AG (Germany) completed the acquisition of ADB Gjensidige across the Baltics, and the Gjensidige brand is being phased out as the entity is merged into ERGO; the gjensidige.lv website is scheduled to be discontinued from the end of October 2026.

Regulatory updates
On 17 April 2025, Latvia's Competition Council (KP) approved ERGO International AG's acquisition of sole control over ADB Gjensidige. All required Baltic regulatory approvals were obtained, and on 2 January 2026 ERGO International AG completed the acquisition, making ADB Gjensidige part of the ERGO group. Since 29 April 2026 it has no longer been possible to purchase new Gjensidige insurance products; ERGO products are offered instead, while existing Gjensidige policies remain valid until their expiry. From the end of October 2026 the gjensidige.lv website will no longer be available, and from 1 November 2026 Gjensidige customers must use ERGO's customer service phone number and email; full legal integration into ERGO is planned to be completed by the end of 2026.
