Allianz – Slovenská poisťovňa, a. s. (Allianz – SP) is the largest universal insurance company in Slovakia, operating in both life and non-life insurance segments. Its roots date back to 1919 and it was formally established in its current form on 1 January 2003 following the merger of Allianz poisťovňa and Slovenská poisťovňa. It belongs to the Allianz SE insurance group and serves clients through a network of 23 branches and over 100 agency offices across Slovakia.

ČSOB Poisťovňa, a.s. is a universal insurance company and member of the ČSOB Financial Group in Slovakia, offering a wide range of life and non-life insurance products to individuals, entrepreneurs, and corporate clients. It was founded in 1992 as ERGO poisťovňa and renamed in 2002 after acquisition by KBC Insurance NV.

Generali Poisťovňa is one of the top three insurers in Slovakia, operating as a branch of Generali Česká pojišťovna a.s. since December 2021. It is a universal insurer offering both life and non-life insurance products for individuals and businesses, and is part of the Italian Generali Group.

KOOPERATIVA poisťovňa, a.s. Vienna Insurance Group is the first private universal insurance company in Slovakia, founded in 1990. It offers over 60 life and non-life insurance products to individuals and businesses, serving nearly 1.5 million clients, and is the market leader on the Slovak insurance market.

MetLife has been operating in Slovakia since 1995 (originally as PRVÁ AMERICKO-SLOVENSKÁ POISŤOVŇA / Amslico), became part of MetLife Inc. in 2010, and rebranded fully to MetLife in 2015. It operates through two Irish-incorporated branches and offers life, accident and travel insurance to individuals and businesses, holding close to a 10% share of the Slovak life insurance market with over 500,000 clients.

NN Životná poisťovňa, a.s. is a life insurance and pension savings specialist operating in Slovakia since 1996, formerly known as Nationale-Nederlanden and ING. It is part of the international NN Group and is the third-largest life insurer and the market leader in pension savings in Slovakia. The NN brand in Slovakia covers NN Životná poisťovňa, a.s. (life insurance), NN dôchodková správcovská spoločnosť, a.s. (2nd pillar pension), NN Tatry – Sympatia, d.d.s., a.s. (3rd pillar pension), and NN Finančné služby, s.r.o. (financial intermediation).

UNIQA is a universal insurer operating in Slovakia as a branch of UNIQA pojišťovna, a.s. (Czech Republic) since 2021, following the merger with AXA. It offers a wide range of life and non-life insurance products and holds an approximately 10.85% overall market share in Slovakia. Its history dates to 1990 as Poisťovňa OTČINA, later renamed UNIQA in 2001.
