Territorial scope | Coverage applies throughout geographic Europe and extra-European territories within the scope of EU validity. Where a Green Card is issued as part of the contract, coverage extends to non-European countries listed on the card unless their names are crossed out. The border insurance also covers Croatia, all EEA countries, and Switzerland. | Coverage applies to the territory of the Republic of Croatia and the territories of all Green Card System member states (all EU member states, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia and others). Accident and casco coverage also valid in Kosovo. Roadside assistance valid across all European countries (including European Turkey and the Greek part of Cyprus) except Albania, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Iceland, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine. In any Green Card country where the statutory minimum sum insured exceeds Croatia's minimum, Allianz provides coverage up to that country's minimum. | Insurance coverage extends to the territory of the Republic of Croatia and to EU/EEA member states and Green Card System member countries. In those countries the insurer's obligation towards injured parties is aligned with Article 1(6) of the Terms. If the minimum insured sum prescribed in the country where the loss occurred is higher than the Croatian statutory minimum, the insurer provides coverage up to that higher amount. | The policy covers insured events on the territory of the Republic of Croatia and, by law, on the territory of all Green Card system member states. Croatian registration plates serve as proof of valid insurance in EU/EEA states and other Green Card member countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro). For non-Green Card countries or where plates are not accepted, a physical Green Card document must be obtained. |
Green card rules | The Green Card is issued as part of the MTPL contract and serves as international proof of insurance. It extends coverage to non-European countries listed on the card unless crossed out. Coverage in EEA countries applies up to the minimum sums prescribed by the law of the country where the damage occurred. The contract and Green Card are governed by Croatian law. | The International Motor Insurance Certificate (formerly Green Card) is issued at policy inception by Allianz and proves valid MTPL coverage in all Green Card System member states. It is valid for travel abroad and must be carried in the vehicle. A list of member states is printed on the certificate and published at huo.hr. For entry into certain states, the certificate is mandatory proof; in the 35 states that have abolished mutual Green Card border controls, the registration plate is sufficient proof. | The insurance policy is valid in Croatia and in all Green Card System member states. The Green Card serves as international proof of compulsory motor liability insurance. For travel to member states where the registration plate is not accepted as proof of insurance, the policyholder should ensure the Green Card document is carried. | A policy concluded in Croatia with Croatian registration plates automatically covers travel in all EU/EEA states and Green Card member countries without requiring a separate document. The insurer must extend coverage to damages occurring in Green Card member states up to the minimum coverage amount prescribed by the law of the country where the damage occurred. A physical Green Card document is required for countries outside the EU where plates are not sufficient proof. |
Driver restrictions | The policyholder loses insurance rights if the driver, at the time of the accident, was under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level of 0.5 g/kg or more, or refused to undergo alcohol/drug testing. Rights are also lost in cases of unauthorized driving, driving without a valid licence, reckless driving, or intentionally caused damage. The insurer retains the right to seek partial or full reimbursement from the driver in these cases. | Any person operating the insured vehicle with the policyholder's permission is covered. Loss of MTPL rights occurs if the driver: (1) used the vehicle for unintended purpose; (2) lacked a valid licence of the appropriate category (except during supervised driving instruction); (3) had their licence revoked or was banned from driving; (4) was under the influence of alcohol above the legal limit, drugs or psychoactive substances, or refused sobriety testing, or left the accident scene before notifying police (when required); (5) caused damage intentionally; (6) the vehicle was technically defective and the driver was aware; (7) damage was caused by the criminal offence of reckless driving (obijesna vožnja). In such cases Allianz pays the third party but seeks recourse from the insured up to 12 average net salaries (or full amount for intentional damage/reckless driving). | The insured loses rights under the policy if: (1) the driver used the vehicle for a purpose other than its intended use; (2) the driver did not hold a valid driving licence of the appropriate type or category; (3) the driver had their licence revoked or was excluded from traffic; (4) the driver was under the influence of alcohol (0.5‰ or more) or drugs/psychoactive substances at the time of the accident, or refused testing; (5) damage was caused intentionally; (6) damage resulted from a technically defective vehicle known to the driver; (7) damage was caused by the criminal offence of reckless driving with a final court judgment. The insured may avoid loss of rights by proving no personal fault or no causal link between the circumstance and the accident. | The insured loses their right to indemnification if, at the time of the traffic accident, they were driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content of 0.5 g/kg or more (0.5 per mille or more), or if they refused to submit to an alcohol/drug test after the accident. The insurer retains the right to seek recourse from the insured in such cases while still paying compensation to the injured third party. |
Claim notification deadline | The insured must report any loss event that results in compensation payment by the insurer within three (3) days in written (text) form. In the event of a loss, the insured must also mitigate damages to the greatest possible extent and clarify the circumstances of the event. | The insured is obliged to report a claim to Allianz without delay. It is recommended to report within 24 hours of the event or of becoming aware of it. If the event was reported to police, the insured must notify Allianz within 24 hours of becoming aware and attach the police record. Immediate police notification is required in cases involving serious injury or death, fire, explosion, theft, burglary, robbery, vandalism, or a multi-vehicle accident. The damage claim can be submitted via the online form at www.allianz.hr or by calling 072 100 001. | The insured must notify the insurer of the loss event within 3 days of the event occurring and provide truthful and complete data on the course of the traffic accident and its circumstances. If a civil claim, lawsuit or request for evidence preservation has been filed against the insured, notification must also be given within 3 days of receiving such documentation, together with all written materials. Failure to comply reduces the insurer's obligation to the insured by the amount of damage caused by such breach. | The insured must notify Euroherc without delay and in writing of any event or circumstance that could lead to a claim, as well as when a claim is raised against them through a court. Additionally, the insured must immediately notify the insurer if a criminal investigation is opened, an indictment is filed, or a criminal decision is issued. The general practice requires notification within 7 days of the event. |
Bonus malus rules | The contract is assigned to a bonus class based on the claims history of the policyholder. Ten bonus classes apply to personal vehicles (M1), with a maximum bonus of 74% (coefficient 0.26) after 20 uninterrupted claim-free years, and two malus classes (S: 120%, M: 140%). Separate bonus tables apply to trucks, buses, motorcycles, and other vehicles. The bonus classification automatically transfers upon vehicle replacement or acquisition of additional vehicles if the habitual driver remains the same. Claims-free years with another insurer are recognised. Optional bonus protection (Zaštita bonusa) allows one claim per calendar year to be disregarded for reclassification purposes. | The MTPL premium is determined by the bonus-malus system with premium classes 1 to 18. New policyholders for personal vehicles start at premium class 1 (50% bonus); for all other vehicle categories they start at premium class 5 (30% bonus). Each claim-free year advances the insured to a more favourable class; each at-fault claim results in reclassification to a less favourable class. Bonus protection (waiver) is available as an optional add-on: if a claim occurs and bonus protection was purchased, the policyholder retains their current bonus class at next renewal. Bonus from a family member can be transferred to vehicles for policyholders over 27 years of age. Bonus from a sold vehicle can also be transferred. | In the event of an at-fault traffic accident, the policyholder's bonus is reduced by 15 percentage points in the following year. An optional bonus protection add-on is available that preserves the earned bonus even after an at-fault claim. All insurers in Croatia use a unified bonus-malus system accessible via a central register. The bonus is linked to the vehicle owner's personal identification number (OIB), not the vehicle or insurer, and is portable when switching insurers or purchasing a new vehicle. | The bonus-malus system is applied annually based on the insured's claims history. Passenger cars have up to 27 bonus tiers (tiers 1-20 plus reference tier 0, malus tiers S and M), with a maximum bonus of 74% (tier 20) and maximum malus of 140% (tier M). New contracts start at tier 0 (reference premium). Claims-free years progress the contract to more favourable tiers; claims return the contract to less favourable tiers. An optional bonus protection add-on can absorb one claim per calendar year without triggering reclassification. The policyholder may voluntarily refund the paid indemnity within 12 months to restore the contract to a claims-free status if indemnity does not exceed EUR 530. |

Direct payment policy | Adriatic osiguranje pays compensation directly to the injured third party based on the liability of the insured. The insurer handles claims on behalf of the policyholder. The insured does not have the right to settle or acknowledge claims without the insurer's consent. | Allianz pays compensation directly to the injured third party. In cases where the insured loses their rights (e.g. drunk driving, no valid licence, intentional damage, reckless driving), Allianz first pays the third party and then seeks recourse from the insured up to 12 average net salaries per statutory limits, or the full amount for intentional damage. | The insurer settles justified claims directly to third-party injured persons in accordance with legal provisions and insurance practice. The insured may delegate claim processing to the insurer. | The injured third party may submit a claim directly to Euroherc (direct claim by third party). Euroherc is obliged to evaluate the claim within 60 days of receipt and provide a reasoned settlement offer. Payment is made on the basis of a recognised liability, approved settlement, or court judgment. |
