Topdanmark is one of Denmark's largest insurance companies, offering life and non-life insurance products and services to private individuals, businesses, and the agricultural sector. Founded in 1972 through the merger of Mejeriernes Ulykkesforsikring and Arbejdsgivernes Ulykkesforsikring (both established 1898–1899), it became a public company in 1985. From 1 July 2025, Topdanmark merged with If Skadeforsikring and now operates as a branch of the Finnish-owned If Skadeförsäkring AB, forming the Nordic region's largest insurance group.

Regulatory updates
Topdanmark is regulated by Finanstilsynet (Denmark) and Finansinspektionen (Sweden) as a branch of If Skadeförsäkring AB (publ), Sweden, and is a member of the Danish Guarantee Fund for non-life insurers. As of 1 July 2025, Topdanmark Forsikring A/S was dissolved as a standalone entity and merged into If Skadeförsäkring AB as a Danish branch (CVR no. 24203212). Topdanmark Livsforsikring's life/pension operations were divested to Nordea (now Nordea Pension Holding Danmark A/S). The most recently published Finanstilsynet inspection report on the company's own website relates to a 2018 inspection of Topdanmark Livsforsikring, with a directive received in January 2020 regarding Solvency II reserve calculations.
