Regulatory updates
On 2 January 2026, ERGO International AG completed the acquisition of ADB Gjensidige, the former Baltic subsidiary of Norwegian insurer Gjensidige Forsikring ASA, including its Estonian branch, making ERGO and Gjensidige sister companies under the ERGO Group. A merger agreement between ERGO Insurance SE and Akcinė draudimo bendrovė 'Gjensidige' was signed on 16 January 2026 and published in the Estonian Business Register on 28 January 2026. On 29 June 2026, ERGO Insurance SE received approval from the Estonian Financial Supervision and Resolution Authority (Finantsinspektsioon) for the cross-border merger with Gjensidige, with ERGO continuing as the acquiring insurance undertaking. Since 29 April 2026, Gjensidige has been selling ERGO-branded insurance products in the Baltics as a transition step, and existing Gjensidige contracts are being transferred to ERGO Insurance SE. The full legal merger and integration, after which the Gjensidige brand will disappear from the Baltic market, is planned to be completed by the end of 2026.
