Overview

Eurofil is a French direct insurance brand created in 1990, which pioneered direct insurance in France and grew to over 200,000 customers. With more than 35 years of experience, Eurofil is one of the leaders of online car insurance in France, served by 350 remote customer relations experts. Since 1 January 2026 Eurofil has joined Allianz Direct, the 100% digital subsidiary of the Allianz group, and the insurer now operates as Allianz Direct Versicherungs acting through its French branch.

Regulatory updates

Allianz Direct finalized the acquisition of Eurofil from Abeille Assurances after signing a Business Transfer Agreement on 6 September; the Autorité de la Concurrence gave its approval on 24 September and the ACPR validated the operation, effective 1 January 2026. The deal covers the transfer of the Eurofil insurance portfolio, associated assets and more than 300 dedicated employees, and concerns close to 470,000 contracts, mainly in motor and home insurance, making Allianz Direct the third-largest online insurer in France. The French branch, Allianz Direct Versicherungs, succursale française, is a company under German law supervised by BaFin in Germany and controlled by the ACPR in France under the French insurance code.
