VHV Italia Assicurazioni S.p.A. is an Italian non-life insurer based in Belluno, originally founded in 1961 as the mutual company Assicurazioni Val Piave, which converted into a joint-stock company in 1998 and became part of the ITAS Assicurazioni Group. In 2023 the German VHV Group acquired 91.13% of the company, and it was rebranded from Assicuratrice Val Piave to VHV Italia Assicurazioni in March 2024, focusing on motor, construction, property and accident insurance.

Regulatory updates
In July 2024 IVASS authorized VHV Italia Assicurazioni to extend its insurance business into additional non-life classes (class 9 – other damage to property, limited to installation risks, and class 15 – suretyship). In November 2024, IVASS authorized VHV International SE to assume direct control of VHV Italia Assicurazioni via acquisition of a 91.13% stake, with no change to the ultimate controlling shareholder, VHV Vereinigte Hannoversche Versicherung a.G. The company also announced the transfer of legal protection (Tutela Legale) claims handling to ARAG SE effective February 2025, and completed acquisition of the Scania insurance portfolio from DARAG in July 2024.
