Regulatory updates
After 142 years of independence, the Nürnberger Versicherung group was acquired by Austria's Vienna Insurance Group (VIG); the takeover was completed in 2026, with VIG holding about 99.2% of the shares of NÜRNBERGER Beteiligungs-AG, following a voluntary public offer of €120 per share (deal value up to €1.38 billion) announced in October 2025. The move followed a 2024 group loss of €77 million driven by high motor and property claims and a subsequent 'Fit für die Zukunft' restructuring program that cut around 600 jobs; the company returned to profit in 2025 and is set to remain an independent brand within VIG, operating from its Nuremberg headquarters, with VIG positioning it as the group's lead provider of biometric (life/disability) products.
