Regulatory updates
KÖBE has been subject to several MNB supervisory actions over the years: in November 2015 the MNB suspended KÖBE's sale of new MTPL (kgfb) contracts due to inadequate reserves and pricing policy, lifting the suspension in March 2016 after KÖBE submitted a remediation financial plan, while also imposing a HUF 23 million fine for irregularities found during the review. In July 2020, following a further comprehensive inspection covering August 2016 onward, the MNB fined KÖBE HUF 20 million in supervisory fines and HUF 5 million in consumer-protection fines for deficiencies in MTPL policy administration, bonus-malus data handling, and customer communication/complaint handling, requiring remediation reporting by end of 2020. Earlier, in 2011, the then-supervisor PSZÁF ordered KÖBE to suspend and redesign its 'Lassíts!' speeding-fine insurance product for being contrary to public policy.
