Overview
Aviva Ireland is the Irish arm of British insurer Aviva plc, operating principally through Aviva Insurance Ireland DAC, Aviva Direct Ireland Limited, and Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland DAC (trading also as Friends First). Established in 1908 as the Hibernian Fire & General Insurance Company, it rebranded to Aviva in 2009-2010 and remains one of Ireland's largest insurers, offering car, home, health (via Level Health), travel, life, protection, pension and business insurance products.

The CBI concluded its multi-year review of the Consumer Protection Code, publishing a Feedback Statement together with final Regulations (Standards for Business Regulations and Consumer Protection Regulations 2025) and Guidance documents; the revised Code takes effect from 24 March 2026 following a 12-month implementation period, requiring Aviva and other regulated firms to embed new Standards for Business and enhanced consumer-protection requirements. Aviva's most recent Solvency and Financial Condition Report (SFCR) covers the year to 31 December 2024, confirming the company's principal activity as general and health insurance business in Ireland, supervised by the CBI with group oversight from the UK's PRA and FCA.
