Regulatory updates
In December 2025, Finanstilsynet conducted a cross-sectoral review of non-life insurers' compliance with EU sanctions against Russia and assessed Gjensidige Forsikring's Danish branch; the authority concluded the inherent risk of the company breaching Russia sanctions is low. In December 2022, Finanstilsynet issued a formal reprimand (påtale) to Gjensidige for unlawful gender discrimination in insurance products. In February 2022, Gjensidige accepted a fine of DKK 100,000 from the National Special Crime Unit (NSK) for discriminating against pregnant policyholders in its Danish branch, following a police report filed by Finanstilsynet in July 2021.
