Groupama Biztosító Zrt. is a leading composite insurer in Hungary, offering life, non-life, property, motor, travel, health, savings and agricultural insurance products to individuals and businesses. It was founded in 1991 as Európa Biztosító, renamed Groupama Biztosító in 2004, merged with OTP Garancia Biztosító in 2009 to form Groupama Garancia Biztosító, and adopted its current name in 2015; it is a 100% subsidiary of French mutual group Groupama S.A.

Regulatory updates
In December 2024, the MNB concluded a comprehensive inspection of Groupama Biztosító Zrt. covering January 2021 to the review's close. Deficiencies were found in MTPL and home-insurance claims record-keeping, IT security, outsourcing, product governance, and consumer protection, including incomplete KID documents and late complaint handling. The MNB imposed a supervisory fine of HUF 49.5 million and a consumer protection fine of HUF 1.6 million, with most remediation due by end of March 2025, while noting the irregularities do not fundamentally affect the insurer's reliable operation. Separately, in May 2025 the MNB closed a thematic review of bank-channel group loan-protection (credit cover) insurance sold by nine insurers, including Groupama (decision H-JÉ-II-B-19/2025), as part of a combined HUF 103 million fine imposed across the market for product-oversight and governance shortcomings.
