Groupama Biztosító Zrt. is one of Hungary's leading composite insurers, offering a full range of life, non-life, property, motor, travel, health, savings and agricultural insurance products to individuals and businesses. It was founded in 1991 as Európa Biztosító, renamed Groupama Biztosító in 2004, merged with OTP Garancia Biztosító in 2009 to form Groupama Garancia Biztosító, and adopted its current name in 2015. It is a 100% subsidiary of French mutual group Groupama S.A.

Regulatory updates
In December 2024, the MNB concluded a comprehensive inspection of Groupama Biztosító Zrt. covering the period from January 2021 to the close of the review. The regulator identified deficiencies in MTPL portfolio management, unit-linked life insurance administration, IT security (including outdated security patches, call recording, and secure data transmission), outsourcing contract records, product oversight and governance, and consumer protection (incomplete KID documents, late complaint responses). The MNB ordered remediation with a deadline mostly at end of March 2025 and imposed a supervisory fine of HUF 49.5 million and a consumer protection fine of HUF 1.6 million. The MNB noted that the identified irregularities do not fundamentally affect the insurer's reliable operation.
